In Agumbe, Karnataka, a massive 12-foot king cobra drew significant attention as it slithered across a road, eventually seeking refuge in a nearby garden. The giant serpent climbed a tree, prompting local residents and the homeowner to call the forest department for help.

The Agumbe Rainforest Research Station (ARRS) quickly responded, dispatching a team to handle the situation. They provided crucial safety advice over the phone while en route. Upon arrival, the team expertly captured the king cobra, placed it in a bag, and transported it back to its natural habitat.

Ajay Giri, head of ARRS, shared footage of the rescue on social media, which has since gone viral. The video, posted on July 14, shows the majestic cobra perched on a branch. Giri’s post detailed the sequence of events, including how locals were guided on safety measures and how the snake was gently handled. He also highlighted the awareness program conducted for the community, emphasizing the importance of respectful wildlife management.
