Watch: Haridwar Under Water, Vehicles Float As Heavy Rain Hits

Haridwar, Uttarakhand, faced severe disruption as heavy rains inundated the region, leaving vehicles submerged and raising water levels in the Ganga river on Saturday. Videos circulating online show flooded roads and vehicles partly or fully submerged, prompting authorities to issue warnings.

Police advised locals to avoid the riverbanks due to unpredictable water flows, urging against bathing or entering the water. Instances of debris falling from hills were also reported, with one vehicle buried under debris on Dugadda Road, 7 km from Kotdwar, according to SDRF sources.

“The debris continues to slide from the hills,” noted SDRF personnel on the scene, where traffic has been halted on both sides for safety measures.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Haridwar, Uttarakhand from June 30 to July 3, predicting isolated heavy rainfall across the state. This alert underscores the ongoing risks and advises residents to exercise caution amid the challenging weather conditions.
