Indian former cricketer Virender Sehwag has taken a strong position against Pakistan’s recent ceasefire breach, after a series of high-tension cross-border events which ended in Operation Sindoor. Sehwag, known for his no-holds-barred patriotism, posted a strong photograph on X (formerly Twitter) that represented defiance.

Virender Sehwag shared a post featuring the Indian tricolour shining through the darkness, just hours after Pakistan breached the ceasefire pact along the R S Pura sector in Jammu and martyred BSF Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz in cross-border firing. Although Sehwag didn’t title the post, the word was crystal clear India will not bow to aggression.
The Pahalgam Attack: The Spark Behind the Fire
The chain of events started on April 22, when a horrific terror strike in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam killed 26 civilians, including women and children. The strike, which Indian intelligence linked to Pakistan-based terror groups, caused outrage at the national level and resulted in quick military and diplomatic action from New Delhi.
As a reaction to the carnage, the Indian Army initiated Operation Sindoor, a multi-pronged counter-terror operation for targeting and eliminating militant camps along the border.
Operation Sindoor: India’s Precise Response
Under Operation Sindoor, India launched precision attacks on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), inflicting a heavy blow on networks suspected to be behind the Pahalgam killings. The operation was conducted with a minimum of collateral damage and maximum precision making it clear that India would not shy away from protecting its citizens.
The action placed the region on high-alert status, with air defence systems shooting down Pakistani drones, total blackouts in various Indian districts, and a large deployment of security personnel along the northern border.
Ceasefire and Immediate Breach
In a surprise diplomatic breakthrough, India and Pakistan agreed to a truce on Saturday, May 10, as Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced. The deal was aimed at defusing a standoff on the brink of war.
But hours after the pact, Pakistan violated the ceasefire, firing on the international border. This offense, following on the heels of Operation Sindoor, has galvanized public indignation and enhanced demands for further retaliation.
Sehwag’s Post: Reflected National Feeling
Virender Sehwag’s representative tweet struck a chord with the nation’s millions. Social networks went into orbit in support of the former sportsperson for standing by the armed forces in a moment of need.
While India keeps a close watch on events and Operation Sindoor continues, the message of citizens, soldiers, and sportsmen is one in harmony there shall be peace only when there is justice.
