Viral Mumbai Teen Train Stunt Performer Loses Arm & Leg: Report

A Mumbai teenager, Farhat Azam Shaikh, has lost an arm and a leg after a train stunt went tragically wrong. Shaikh, who recently became known from a viral video showing him clinging to a moving local train, was found severely injured by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel.

The video, which circulated on X earlier this month, showed Shaikh performing the stunt at Sewri station on March 7. The footage gained widespread attention when posted on July 14. The RPF, after locating the teenager, discovered he had lost a leg and an arm due to a similar stunt attempted on April 14 at Masjid station, reported PTI.

“Thanks for the information. RPF Post VDLR has been instructed to register the case against the unknown passenger shown in the video. Efforts are on to trace him. We request all the concerned to desist from such unsafe practices and life-threatening both for them and passengers,” the official handle of DRM Mumbai CR replied.

Reacting to the post on X, one user expressed, “Stunts and dancing on #MumbaiLocal trains are dangerous and disruptive. Safety and respect for fellow passengers should always come first.” Another user said, “Strict legal action should be taken against these miscreants by the Railway Police.” Meanwhile, a third user responded, “Genuine question: why don’t railways have PSD (platform safety doors) like the metro? @bhaumikgowande?” And a fourth added, “Should be arrested.”

Following the incident, the Central Railway issued a stern warning against such reckless behavior and registered a case against Shaikh with the Wadala unit of the RPF. In a statement, the Central Railway highlighted, “He has appealed to all passengers through a video to stay away from such acts, which are not only illegal but life-threatening. Central Railway requests passengers to desist from such unsafe stunts/activities that are life-threatening both for the individuals involved and other passengers.”

The Central Railway has also encouraged citizens to report any such activities immediately by calling 9004410735 or 139.
