Uttarakhand: 4 Forest Department Workers Dead While Controlling Fire In Almora

Four forest department workers lost their lives while battling the fire in the Binsar forest in Uttarakhand’s Almora district on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the injured were quickly transported to Hospital. As per available information, around 3:30 pm, the vehicle of forest department got engulfed in flames in Binsar wildlife sanctuary Almora.

After learning about it, Forest department employees and PRD Officers immediately reached the spot.

As per state government’s communique, ‘Their vehicle caught fire. Four of them died before they could jump out of the vehicle, while others got injured.’

Later, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, declared a ₹10 lakh ex gratia for the deceased families.

Furthermore, he also ordered the officials to transfer four injured forest workers to Haldwani Base Hospital and AIIMS Rishikesh.

Those who perished were identified as forest beat officer of Binsar range Trilok Singh Mehta (40), Karan Arya (21), Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD) officer Puran Singh (50) and Diwan Ram (35), the daily wage worker who helped in controlling the fire.

Moreover, the Chief Minister’s special secretary, Parag Madhukar Dhakate, has declared that the situation is under close surveillance and the post-mortem examination of the deceased is underway.

Meanwhile just last month, resin factory in Almora district became a victim of forest fire and three workers while dousing the fire, perished.
