An 11-year-old girl was injured in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday night after being attacked by a man-eating wolf. Authorities had been searching for a sixth wolf in the area as part of ongoing efforts to capture the dangerous pack. The injured girl has been admitted to the government hospital in Mahasi for treatment, confirmed the Mahasi CHC in-charge.
The attack has intensified fears among local residents. Earlier that day, the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department captured a fifth wolf suspected of being involved in a series of fatal attacks, with one wolf still at large. The wolves have been responsible for multiple attacks across 25-30 villages in the Mahsi tehsil of the Bahraich Forest Division.
The Forest Department initiated “Operation Bhediya” to catch the wolves, installing snap cameras in key locations to track their movements. As of now, the wolves have killed nine people and injured over 40 in Bahraich.
