“Upcoming Jharkhand Assembly Elections will be Meeting Agenda”: Cong State Chief

Ahead of the Jharkhand Congress leaders meeting in Delhi on Wednesday, state party chief Rajesh Thakur said that the agenda of the meeting will be the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, adding that 20 senior leaders of the party will attend the meeting.
“The meeting has a clear agenda, the upcoming 2024 elections, how the party will get into it, and how the party will put forward their opinions in the alliance. How the alliance will strongly contest the elections. With what strategy will we get it into the elections? 20 senior leaders have been called to Delhi to attend the meeting,” Rajesh Thakur told ANI.
Jharkhand Minister and Congress leader Rameshwar Oraon said that in alliance, the party will fight the Jharkhand Assembly polls.
“The discussion will be regarding the upcoming (Jharkhand) election. The situation here is very good, our alliance partners are one. All three parties will fight together, there will be an alliance. This time, the results will be better than last time,” Oraon said.
The assembly elections in Jharkhand will likely be held in 2024. Along with Jharkhand, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Jammu and Kashmir will also undergo assembly polls.
Earlier on July 4, after securing bail from the Jharkhand High Court, Hemant Soren was sworn in again as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Soren had spent nearly 5 months in jail after being arrested in an alleged land scam case. Before his arrest, he had stepped down as CM and Champai Soren was sworn in as CM.
The term of the existing Jharkhand Legislative Assembly will end in January 2025 and the Election Commission (EC) has kicked off preparations for holding assembly elections.
In 2019, JMM fought the assembly elections in alliance with the Congress and Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) and got a comfortable majority with forty-seven seats in the 81-member house.
