UP: Ratan Tata Honored During Ganga Aarti at Varanasi’s Dashashwamedh Ghat

A large crowd gathered at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday evening to pay tribute to veteran industrialist Ratan Tata during the Ganga Aarti. As devotees lit diyas and offered prayers, they honored Tata’s remarkable life, legacy, and contributions to Indian industry and philanthropy.

The atmosphere was filled with reverence and gratitude as people remembered him for not only his visionary leadership but also his deep commitment to social causes.

Tata passed away on Wednesday night (October 9) at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital at the age of 86. His final rites were performed on Thursday evening with full state honors at Mumbai’s Worli Crematorium. Among those attending were his stepmother, Simone Tata, and close associate, Shantanu Naidu. In a touching gesture, Tata’s adopted stray dog, Goa, was also present to pay respects.

Ratan Tata’s death has led to an outpouring of tributes and condolences from leaders worldwide, celebrating his visionary leadership, philanthropic efforts, and influence on global relations. The former Chairman of Tata Group and Tata Sons, Tata passed away on October 9, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in business and philanthropy.

Tata led Tata Sons from 1991 until his retirement in 2012, after which he became Chairman Emeritus. He was honored with India’s second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, in 2008. Under his leadership, the Tata Group expanded internationally, acquiring well-known brands such as Jaguar Land Rover and Tetley, while his focus on innovation and sustainability inspired a new generation of entrepreneurs.
