UP Horror: 17yo raped for 3 days, branded with hot iron on the face

A 22-year-old man was detained and taken to jail in Lakhimpur Kheri on Saturday after confining a 17-year-old girl for three days and sexually abusing her on multiple occasions after she refused to marry him. According to authorities, the accused used a hot iron rod to write the letters of his name, “Aman,” on the survivor’s face while she was being beaten and mistreated.

Her family said that police initially filed a case under “lesser” categories including wrongful imprisonment and intentionally causing harm. However, sections of the Pocso Act and rape were added to the FIR after the survivor’s statement was recorded in front of a magistrate under Section 164 CrPC.

SSP (Kheri) Ganesh Saha informed TOI that he denied the claims made by the family, “We’d registered an FIR on basis of a complaint by her family. A video statement of the girl was recorded in which she didn’t level such grave allegations. We don’t know why she changed her statement in court. However, we have started our probe as per her allegations now. The accused has been arrested,” he stated

SHO (Dhaurahra), Dinesh Singh, said, “The man is a school dropout and works at a salon in Hyderabad. He wanted to marry the girl and when she refused, he wrote his name on both her cheeks. We registered an FIR when she came to the police station with her family. Since she didn’t carry an ID, we were not sure whether she was a minor. We have now added IPC section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapon) and 376 (rape) along with Pocso Act.”
