Tirupati Temple Takes Action Against 18 Non-Hindu Employees

TTD has taken actions against 18 employees who are engaged in other faiths against which they promised at the time of joining temple that they will be Hindu for life. Those employees have been restrained from engaging in religious functions and have been ordered to go on transferable positions that have no connection with the temple activities.

The TTD Board has now resolved to either transfer these men into government departments or provide them the option to depart from the Voluntary Retirement Scheme. According to TTD Chairman BR Naidu, this move would allow the sanctity of Hindu identity to remain intact within the Tirumala temple. The board issued a statement to reveal that these employees had indulged in non-Hindu religious activities while simultaneously taking part in Hindu religious events organized by the TTD, which was deemed disrespectful for the beliefs and sentiments of Hindu worshipers.

After induction, employees are made to take an oath before the idol of Lord Venkateshwara to follow Hindu faith and tradition. The 18 employees’ actions were felt to be tarnishing the reputation of the TTD. In order not to let such instances happen again, two officials of the TTD have been given the task to check the current postings of the employees and prevent them from working in any religious or temple affairs.
