A tragic incident occurred at a cricket ground in the Ranhola area of outer Delhi, where a 13-year-old boy died after being electrocuted. An eyewitness, Keshav, reported that the boy was stuck to an iron pole for at least 15 minutes before help arrived.
“Yesterday, I heard children shouting in the ground, so I ran to see what was happening. By the time I arrived, a boy told me that his brother had been electrocuted by an iron pole. I saw that the boy had already died. He was stuck to the pole for at least 15 minutes. The police arrived later,” Keshav recounted.
The incident occurred on Saturday around 1:30 pm when the boy, who was playing cricket at the Kotla Vihar Phase-2 Cricket Ground, received a fatal electric shock. According to the police, the shock came from an iron pole carrying an electric wire to a nearby Gaushala when the boy went to retrieve a cricket ball.
The boy’s body was quickly transported to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital by a PCR van, where he was declared dead by hospital authorities.
A First Information Report (FIR) under Section 106(1) BNS has been filed, and an investigation is underway, according to the police. Further updates on the incident are awaited.
