Swiggy has introduced its Swiggy Seal programme, aimed at raising food hygiene and quality standards in restaurants, based on insights from over seven million verified customer reviews. Initially launched in Pune, the programme is set to expand to over 650 cities by November. Through this initiative, restaurant partners will receive detailed feedback on aspects such as contamination prevention, cooking techniques, and packaging standards.
Restaurants that meet Swiggy’s hygiene criteria will earn the Swiggy Seal badge, which will be displayed on their menu pages. To help maintain these standards, Swiggy has collaborated with FSSAI-accredited agencies to offer discounted hygiene audits and services like pest control. The programme also includes educational webinars led by industry experts on topics like food handling, contamination prevention, and cooking practices.
Deepak Maloo, Swiggy’s Head of Customer and Restaurant Experience, emphasized the importance of clean and hygienic food, saying, “With the launch of the Swiggy Seal, we aim to support our restaurant partners with actionable insights to help them enhance hygiene standards.” Swiggy will actively monitor the restaurants awarded the Seal and may revoke it if they fail to uphold the required hygiene levels.
Additionally, Swiggy recently announced plans to offer quick-to-prepare meals from popular restaurants and QSRs within a 2 km radius, including items like burgers, beverages, and ready-to-pack snacks.
