In Jamner, a State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) member, tasked with protecting cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, allegedly took his own life. Prakash Kapde, aged 39, reportedly used his service weapon to fatally injure himself in the neck while visiting his family’s ancestral home. Survived by elderly parents, a wife, two minor children, and a brother, Kapde’s untimely death has shocked his community. The incident occurred around 1:30 am, prompting an immediate investigation by local authorities.
Senior Police Inspector Kiran Shinde stated that while the exact reasons for the alleged suicide remain uncertain, preliminary inquiries suggest personal issues may have played a role. The police are diligently probing the matter to uncover the full truth behind Kapde’s tragic decision. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and an accidental death report has been filed.
Furthermore, given Kapde’s involvement in VVIP security duties, the SRPF plans to conduct its independent inquiry into the incident. The loss of Kapde has not only left his family devastated but has also raised questions about the mental well-being and support systems for those serving in demanding security roles.
