Govind, older brother of Sonam Raghuvanshi, has gone on record to say that he is ‘100 percent sure’ his sister killed her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, on their honeymoon in Meghalaya last month. Addressing journalists in Indore on Wednesday, Govind also said the co-accused in the case, Raj Kushwaha who allegedly had an affair with Sonam used to get a rakhi from her every year.
“From the evidence so far, I am 100 percent confident that she has committed the murder. All the suspects in this case are connected to Raj Kushwaha. We have cut off our relationship with Sonam Raghuvanshi. I apologize to Raja’s family,” Govind stated.
He met Raja’s family in Indore to show solidarity and later informed the media that his family had cut all ties with Sonam. “Sonam doesn’t feel guilty. There has been no contact. We have cut off all contacts with her. We will fight on behalf of Raja (Raghuvanshi),” he added.
Govind also disclosed information regarding Sonam’s affair with Raj Kushwaha. “Raj Kushwaha would always refer to her as ‘didi’. Sonam has never stopped tying a rakhi on Raj Kushwaha for the past three years,” he asserted.
The Meghalaya Honeymoon Case
Sonam and Raja Raghuvanshi had visited Meghalaya for their honeymoon in May. On May 23, both went missing, and Raja’s body was recovered from a gorge on June 2. A week later, Sonam turned up in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur, where she said she had been kidnapped and given a drug overdose, an account that the police have resolutely disputed.
Families React
Raja’s brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, informed ANI that Govind had contacted him. “Govind (brother of Sonam Raghuvanshi) was in contact with me. He said that he is coming to my home and he desires to confess that his sister committed an error. He desired to say that his sister must be hanged for the error she committed,” said Vipin.
Contrarily, Raj Kushwaha’s mother came to the defence of her son and asserted that he was falsely accused. “My son cannot commit something like this. He is only 20 years old. He is my everything. My son used to work in Sonam’s brother’s factory. He is falsely accused. I appeal to the government to prove him innocent. He is innocent,” she asserted.
