Union Cabinet Minister Smriti Zubin Irani declared the allocation of funds from the Nirbhaya Fund for women’s hostels at Delhi University during the Vikas Bharat Ambassador-Nari Shakti Conclave held at the university’s north campus. Responding to the requests of several female students, the minister for women and child development and minority affairs announced the utilization of Nirbhaya Fund resources for the enhancement and maintenance of women’s hostels, as stated by the university.

The Nari Shakti conclave, organized by DU in anticipation of International Women’s Day on March 8, witnessed Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh congratulating women on the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act in Parliament.
