A total blackout was declared in the Akhnoor region of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. Loud explosions and sirens were reported in the area, raising concern among locals. The blackout came shortly after drones were reportedly seen in Jalandhar, Punjab.

Drones Spotted in Jalandhar, Authorities Urge Calm

Authorities in Jalandhar imposed a temporary blackout as a safety measure after some drones were reportedly spotted in the area.

“We have imposed a blackout for some time as a few drones have been reportedly sighted in Jalandhar. Forces are checking. Please be calm and follow blackout protocol,” said the Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar.

Indian Army Responds to Drone Attacks

According to defence sources, the Indian Army gave a strong response in the Jammu sector after Pakistan launched drone attacks on Indian cities near the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB).

On Friday, drones were seen at 26 locations from Baramulla in the north to Bhuj in the south, indicating the scale of the threat. These drones are suspected to be armed, posing danger to civilians and military personnel alike.

Widespread Drone Activity Across India-Pak Border

The areas where drones were reported include Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala.

In one serious case, a drone attacked a civilian neighborhood in Punjab’s Ferozpur, leaving several members of a local family severely injured. The wounded were quickly taken to the hospital, and the security forces sanitized the area.

Military on High Alert

The Indian Armed Forces remain on high alert, with counter-drone systems actively monitoring and neutralizing aerial threats. Defence officials said they are keeping a close eye on the situation and are ready to act swiftly whenever needed.

Drones Intercepted in Jammu and Samba

A day after Indian air defence blocked an attempt by Pakistani drones to hit civilian infrastructure, more drones were seen again in areas like Jammu, Samba, and Pathankot. In the Samba sector, people witnessed red streaks in the sky and heard loud explosions as Indian air defence successfully intercepted incoming drones during a blackout.

More Blackouts in Jammu Region

In addition to Akhnoor, a blackout was also enforced in Udhampur due to continued drone sightings and security threats. India has already carried out precision strikes targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). These strikes were in response to the earlier Pahalgam terror attack. Pakistan, in turn, has escalated tensions with drone attacks, which the Indian military is addressing firmly.
