During his visit to the Siachen base camp on Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lauded it as the epitome of Indian valour and chivalry. He talked to the soldiers and handed them some candy at the Siachen Glacier’s Kumar post in Ladakh.
Rajnath Singh commended the troops for their unwavering defense of the nation at the world’s highest battlefield, the Siachen Glacier. He emphasized the significance of Siachen, not merely as a geographical location but as a symbol of India’s sovereignty, resilience, and national resolve. Drawing parallels, he described Delhi as the political capital, Mumbai as the economic capital, and Bengaluru as the technological capital, while affirming Siachen as India’s capital of valor and bravery.
As a mark of tribute to the courageous soldiers, Rajnath Singh laid a wreath at the war memorial in the Siachen base camp.
Army Chief Manoj Pande accompanied the Defence Minister during the visit, further underscoring the importance of the occasion.
The atmosphere at Kumar’s post in the Siachen Glacier reverberated with chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ as the jawans expressed their patriotic fervor after interacting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Earlier before leaving, Rajnath Singh expressed on his X handle, “Heading to Siachen from New Delhi. Eagerly anticipating the opportunity to engage with our brave Armed Forces Personnel stationed there.”
Initially slated to visit Siachen on March 24 for Holi celebrations with troops, the plan was altered to Leh due to adverse weather conditions. At Leh Military station, the Defence Minister marked the occasion with the armed forces.
He connected with the Commanding Officer at Siachen over the phone, assuring them of his visit at the earliest to fulfill his commitment.
