In one of the deadliest terror strikes in Jammu and Kashmir since 2019, suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba gunmen on Tuesday opened fire on a group of tourists in Pahalgam. The attack killed at least 28 people, including foreign nationals, and injured several others. The attack has triggered nationwide outrage and mourning. Celebrities across the world expressed their grief on social media, condemning the act and urging severe action to prosecute the perpetrators.
During the mayhem, TV duo Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim, who had recently gone on a vacation in Kashmir with their son Ruhaan, informed that they had left the area prior to the attack. Frightened fans contacted after Dipika had posted vacation material, including images from Pahalgam two days before the incident occurred.
Shoaib countered the worry by posting on his Instagram Story, stating, “Hello friends, U all have been worried about our safety. Hum sab safe hain theek hain, aaj hi morning me we departed Kashmir. and reached Delhi safely. Thanks for all the worry. New vlog coming soon.”
But the last sentence of his message: ‘New vlog coming soon’, provoked criticism on the internet. Most people felt that the timing was inappropriate, considering the seriousness of the situation. The post generated a lot of discussion on Reddit, with users calling it ‘insensitive’ and ‘tone-deaf’.

One Reddit commenter slammed, “He is still going on and on about vlog coming soon is he mad or what.” Another added, “I genuinely want to know who are those unemployed people who genuinely wait for any YouTuber’s vlogs?. Do such people even exist that creators become so self-centered, delusional, and insensitive at such tragic moments?” A third simply responded, ‘Tone-deaf post’.
In the meantime, the remains of the 26 victims of the Pahalgam attack have been transported to Srinagar. The attack occurred at a tourist destination and has been referred to as the deadliest attack in the region since the Pulwama tragedy.
