Shashi Tharoor Warns ‘Step Over The Border, Face The Consequences’

Delivering a strong and united message on India’s stance against terrorism, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor declared that India will not allow anyone to harm its civilians and get away with impunity. Speaking from Guyana, where he is leading a multi-party delegation, Tharoor emphasized the need to bring not only terrorists but also their sponsors to justice.

“Our message is very clear. We have to stand against terrorism wherever it comes. We have to not only bring the evil killers to justice, but we must also seriously challenge those who are financing them, training them, equipping them, directing them to do their evil,” Tharoor stated on Sunday.

India’s Determined Stand

Tharoor, who arrived in Georgetown after a tour of the United States, underlined that India has suffered from terrorism for more than four decades and has now reached a point of “resolved determination” in its fight.

“We will never let anybody believe they can just walk across the border and kill our civilians or kill anybody in our country and get away with impunity,” he asserted. “We feel we have to show them there is a price to be paid. That is the message that the government of India is sending and that all of us are echoing… the time has come for a new normal against terrorism.”

Appeal To Indian Diaspora

Calling upon the Indian community in Guyana, Tharoor urged them to support India’s efforts in the global fight against terrorism. “We are seeking all of you to join us in expressing support, in strength, in resolve, and in response to this kind of action if it happens again in the future. So this is the purpose of our trip,” he explained.
