Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi celebrated Raksha Bandhan on Monday with school students who tied rakhis on his wrist as part of the festive celebrations. The event highlighted the spirit of love, devotion, and protection that Raksha Bandhan symbolizes.
Earlier in the day, CM Majhi took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to extend his greetings on the occasion. In his message, he emphasized the cultural and spiritual significance of the festival. “Greetings and congratulations to all on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Purnima and the holy birthday of Lord Balabhadra. May the sacred bond symbolized by the rakhi enhance the love, devotion, and protection in everyone’s lives,” Majhi wrote.
The Chief Minister’s participation in the celebrations echoed similar events across the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also marked Raksha Bandhan by having schoolgirls tie rakhis on his wrist in New Delhi. Extending his wishes, PM Modi prayed for happiness and prosperity for all. “Best wishes to all on Raksha Bandhan, a festival symbolizing the deep love between siblings. May this festival bring sweetness in relationships and fill lives with happiness, prosperity, and good fortune,” he posted on X.
President Droupadi Murmu also shared her Raksha Bandhan greetings, emphasizing the values of love, mutual trust, and respect that the festival embodies. “On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all. This festival, based on the bond between brothers and sisters, instills affection and respect toward all sisters and daughters,” President Murmu stated. She further urged citizens to take a pledge to ensure the safety and dignity of women in society.
