The Supreme Court On Wednesday, stayed a Gujarat High Court order for the recovery of land allotted to Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd in Mundra, Gujarat. A bench led by Justice BR Gavai, with Justice KV Viswanathan, issued a notice to the Gujarat government, requesting a response to the petition.
The appeal, moved by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited, challenges the Gujarat High Court’s decision. The Adani Group entity sought an interim stay on the order regarding the land allotted to it in 2005.
Gautam Adani had paid over ₹37.39 lakh, along with a 30% premium of ₹11.21 lakh, for the land.
Earlier, the Gujarat government agreed to reclaim 108 hectares of cattle-grazing land in Mundra’s Navinal village following a high court resumption order. This decision came after local villagers filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the land allotment to the Adani Group.
