The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has lodged a charge sheet against suspended TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan along with six others in connection with the January 5th ED officer attack at Sandeshkhali on Tuesday.
Earlier, the agency registered its first charge sheet in the case before a special court.
On January 5th, the team of the enforcement directorate was attacked by a mob consisting of 1000 people in SandeshKhali, when they came to raid Sheikh Shahjahan’s house in connection with a west Bengal’s multi-crore ration distribution scam.
Apparently, at that time, the ED officers had come to the riverine island to arrest the sheikh in connection with his links to the former state food minister Jyoti Priya Mallick, who herself was under the radar for the scam.
Later, this island, again came on the news, where local women made allegations of land grabbing and sexual abuse against sheikh and his henchmen.
After that, the investigation of these three incidents was transferred to CBI.
Subsequently, sheikh Shahjahan was arrested by west Bengal police after 55 days on February 29 and currently, he’s under CBI custody since March 6.
