Ricky Rai, younger brother of late underworld don Muttappa Rai, was shot and wounded late on Friday night outside his Bidadi bungalow in the Ramanagara district of Karnataka. He was attacked around midnight when he was riding in his SUV with a gunman and a driver.
The police report says at least two shots were fired by unidentified attackers from behind the compound wall that hit the vehicle. One of the bullets hit the SUV, wounding Ricky on the nose.
Ricky’s driver, Basavaraju, who was driving the car at the time, described the terrifying episode. “Usually, Ricky drives as he enjoys it. But yesterday, for some reason or other, he requested me to drive and sat behind. Suddenly, we heard gunshots, and one of them hit the right door. We noticed Ricky had been hurt on his nose and was bleeding,” he explained.

Bullet Fired from Behind Wall, Investigation Underway
Initial reports indicate that the shots had been fired from behind a boundary wall that lay next to the property. The assailants have not been identified, and an investigation has been initiated by the authorities to establish the motive behind the shooting.
Ricky Rai was promptly taken for medical help and is recuperating. Police are studying CCTV footage from neighboring areas and interviewing locals to identify the suspects.
Although nobody has taken the responsibility for the attack, officials from the law and order machinery are not excluding any possibilities, such as personal animosity or rivalry due to his late father’s history. Muttappa Rai was once a well-known figure in Karnataka’s underworld society before becoming a social activist.
High Security at Bidadi Bungalow
Following the incident, police have increased security around Ricky Rai’s Bidadi residence. The incident has raised concerns about lingering tensions and unresolved issues from Muttappa Rai’s legacy.
