Delhi Police have released the first picture of the 35-year-old man who allegedly attacked and slapped Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. It is reported that Rajesh Khimji is a resident of Rajkot, Gujarat and was the man who attempted to attack Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at a public meeting in Civil Lines at her residence.
According to sources, Khimji had reportedly approached the Chief Minister with an urgent demand-the release of his relative, who is currently in jail. The police managed to extract a confession from him regarding his motive during the interrogation, but they are still verifying his identity and history. "The details provided by him, including his name and address, are being cross-checked," said a senior officer.

The attack took place on Thursday morning when CM Gupta met citizens at her official residence for her weekly Jan Sunwai. The session was meant to address grievances but turned chaotic after the 35-year-old accused breached security. He walked up to the CM and slapped her.
Sources confirmed that the man handed over some papers before launching the attack. Police immediately detained him and took him to the police station for questioning.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva strongly condemned the incident. He called the attack unacceptable and dangerous, especially since it occurred inside the CM’s residence during the public hearing. The Delhi BJP released a message denouncing the assault.

Sureshbhai, a neighbour of Rajesh Khimji, described him as a generous individual known to him for six years. “I’ve known Rajesh for five or six years. He is a kind-hearted man with a strong affection for animals,” Sureshbhai said.
