Rajnath Singh’s US Visit Ends with Focus on India’s Growth and Strengthening US-India Ties

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh concluded his official visit to the United States on Monday, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defence. During his final event, Singh emphasized India’s impressive growth over the past decade and hailed the Indian diaspora as a ‘living bridge’ between India and the US.

Addressing the Indian community from Memphis, Atlanta, Nashville, and surrounding areas, Singh praised their achievements and contributions to society, science, and the economy. He highlighted their role in strengthening the ties and goodwill between the two nations.

Singh also acknowledged the Indian community’s efforts in establishing a Mahatma Gandhi exhibit and placing honorary ‘Gandhi Way’ street signs near the National Civil Rights Museum in 2019, marking Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary.

On August 25, Singh visited the National Civil Rights Museum, which is located on the site of Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination in 1968 and includes a bust of Gandhi, recognizing his influence on non-violent resistance.

During his US visit from August 23 to 26, Singh met with US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin. They celebrated the completion of the Security of Supplies Arrangement (SOSA), which aims to bolster the defence industrial ecosystems of both countries and enhance supply chain resilience. Their discussions at the Pentagon covered bilateral defence cooperation, industrial collaboration, regional security, and other international matters.
