A man staged a car accident that killed his wife in order to collect Rs 1.90 crore in insurance money in Jaipur. The accused, Mahesh Chand, hired a history-sheeter who rammed his car into the motorcycle that Mahesh’s wife and her cousin were riding. The accused has been identified as Mahesh Chand.
Both people were killed in the accident.
The incident took place when Mahesh’s wife Shalu and her cousin Raju went to the Samod shrine in Jaipur’s Harmada on October 5. On their route to the temple, the two were killed in a collision with a Safari vehicle.
Prior to the murder, Chand had also insured his wife for Rs 1 crore, 90 lakh.
Mahesh and his wife Shalu frequently quarreled, according to DCP Vandita Rana. Shalu had also filed a dowry harassment case against Mahesh in 2019, after which he was arrested and sent to jail.
Mahesh told his wife that a pandit had advised her to visit Balaji 12 times for prosperity as part of an elaborate plot. On the other hand, he had already paid Mukesh Singh Rathore, a renowned history-sheeter, Rs 5.50 lakh of the anticipated Rs 10 lakh contract for the murder of Shalu.
Shalu, under pressure from her husband, sent her brother Raju to the temple while Mahesh tracked her whereabouts. The two were killed when a speeding SUV ran over them.
The SUV intentionally struck the couple as the bike was turning to the side, as the police discovered after reviewing the CCTV footage. During the investigation, it was discovered that Mahesh had insured Shalu for Rs 1.90 crore for accidental death roughly four months prior.
Five suspects, including Mahesh, Raju, Mukesh Singh Rathore, Sonu Singh, and Rakesh Bairwa, have been detained by the police in connection with the crime.
