Rajasthan HC issues notice to CM Gehlot over corruption in judiciary claim

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot received a notice from the Rajasthan High Court in response to his claim of corruption in the state judiciary. Shivcharan Gupta, a former judge and advocate, filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), which prompted the notice’s issuance.

The high court asked CM Gehlot to explain the reasoning behind his claim that judges were writing their own verdicts and that there was corruption in the courts. In response to Gehlot’s remarks alleging corrupt judicial practices, a PIL was submitted to the high court. According to the petition, the CM was an attack on the standing of judges and attorneys.

It added that action should be taken against the chief minister for “contempt of court”.
The petitioner’s advocate, Shivcharan Gupta, said a reply to the notice issued by the high court has been sought from Chief Minister Gehlot in the next three weeks.
The next hearing in the matter has been scheduled for October 3, he informed.
