Railway Minister Announces Production of 2,500 Coaches with Approval for Additional 10,000

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a special initiative to manufacture around 2,500 new general passenger train coaches, with approval granted for an additional 10,000 coaches. This effort aims to bolster railway infrastructure nationwide.

Speaking in New Delhi at an event, the Union Minister highlighted the commencement of manufacturing for 50 new Amrit Bharat trains. These trains, flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year from Maldah and Darbhanga, are set to expand with another 150 in production.

The Amrit Bharat trains, equipped with LHB (Linke-Hofmann-Busch) push-pull technology for enhanced acceleration, are part of the government’s strategy to improve rail services. Minister Vaishnaw noted the operation of over 10,000 special trains this summer to manage high passenger demand, emphasizing their focus on service quality, safety, and cleanliness.

Regarding infrastructure development, he mentioned the addition of 5,300 kilometers of railway tracks last year, with 800 kilometers added so far this year. He also highlighted the rapid rollout of the Kavach system, designed to enhance safety by automatically applying brakes in case of emergencies and adverse weather conditions.

Vaishnaw addressed criticisms against railway employees, accusing the Opposition of demotivating them with outdated videos and exaggerated claims. He reassured that the railway workforce remains committed to maintaining high standards and refuting negative narratives.
