WATCH:

Later in the day, Gandhi is scheduled to meet Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey to discuss the prevailing situation and advocate for necessary measures to restore normalcy. Following this meeting, he plans to hold a press conference at the Manipur Congress office to address the media on his observations and recommendations.

In a statement posted on social media, the official Congress party handle highlighted Gandhi’s visit, stating, “LoP Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Jiribam Higher Secondary School relief camp reflects his unwavering dedication to supporting those affected by recent violence in Manipur.”

Gandhi’s trip to Manipur follows his earlier visit to Assam, where he met flood-affected victims at a relief camp in Fulertal, Lakhipur. His proactive approach in both states underscores his commitment to addressing humanitarian crises and advocating for affected communities.

Violence erupted in Manipur on May 3 last year during clashes at a rally organized by the All Tribals Students Union (ATSU), prompting widespread concerns over community tensions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently addressed the situation in Manipur during a session in the Rajya Sabha, emphasizing the government’s efforts to restore peace and normalize conditions.
