Miss Grand International Rachel Gupta recently took to Instagram to announce that she is stepping away from the title of Miss Grand International over mistreatment and toxic behaviour inside the pageant organisation.
The 20-year-old model from Jalandhar has stepped away from the title, less than a year away when she won it on October 25, 2025.
Rachel Relinquishes Title Over Misconduct
In a text-only post she posted on Instagram on Wednesday, she said, “It is with deep regret that I share this news, I have made the decision to step down as Miss Grand International 2024 and return my crown. Being crowned was one of the most cherished dreams of my life, and I was filled with hope and pride to represent my country and make history. However, the months following my crowning have been marked by broken promises, mistreatment, and a toxic environment I can no longer endure in silence. This decision was not made lightly. I ask for your compassion, your open hearts, and your continued support as I take this next step. Your love means more than you know.”

Miss India Grand International’s Response
The Miss Grand International Organisation has defended against the allegations by Rachel by saying that she violated contractual agreements and obligations by refusing to go to Guatemala to represent the organisation while simultaneously taking on external contracts.
Their statement read, “This decision follows her failure to fulfill her assigned duties, engagement in external projects without prior approval from the organization, and her refusal to participate in the scheduled trip to Guatemala.”
