R G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata has expelled ten individuals, including doctors, house staff, and interns, following serious allegations of misconduct. The actions come in the wake of complaints regarding a “threat culture” within the college, particularly after the tragic rape and murder of a junior doctor. On September 10, the college administration issued notices to 51 individuals linked to behaviors that contribute to this environment. A formal inquiry was conducted, leading to the expulsion of the ten individuals.
This significant action reflects the administration’s commitment to address misconduct and foster a safer environment for all students and staff.
