Maharashtra Pradesh Congress chief Nana Patole has raised serious allegations regarding the involvement of a legislator’s son in the fatal Pune Porsche Crash that claimed the lives of two techies on May 19. Patole urged the government to disclose the identity of the other individual present in the vehicle at the time of the accident, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

“We have reasons to believe that all-out efforts have been made to save the builder’s son owing to his links with leading politicians,” Patole asserted, expressing concerns over potential attempts to shield the accused due to their political connections.

Patole further alleged that Dr. Ajay Taware of Sassoon Hospital, recently arrested for alleged tampering of blood samples in the case, had affiliations with a politician. Citing previous instances, he highlighted the provision of luxurious facilities to drug lord Lalit Patil in the same hospital. Patole called for transparency regarding the recommendation of Dr. Taware’s appointment, implicating NCP MLA Sunil Tingre in the process.

Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif confirmed receiving a recommendation from MLA Sunil Tingre’s office in December 2023, advocating for Dr. Ajay Taware’s appointment as superintendent of Sassoon Hospital. Dr. Taware’s tenure was marred by controversy following a rat bite death, leading to his subsequent removal from the position.
