MP Manoj Tiwari accuses AAP-led MCD of engaging in vendetta politics after the Lok Sabha elections, alleging the targeted demolition of specific houses. Tiwari promises compensation for affected families and criticizes the MCD for failing to provide adequate explanation.
A video shared by Manoj Tiwari on X shows him desealing the property in northeast Delhi’s Sabhapur. The incident took place on Thursday.
The property, which was booked and partially demolished on June 7 due to illegal construction, was slated for temporary desealing by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Sources indicate that MCD had issued a notice before sealing and demolition actions. Subsequently, officials issued an order on June 12 to temporarily unseal the property, enabling occupants to retrieve their belongings. However, before the deadline, Tiwari visited the area and removed the seal.
Mayor Shelly Oberoi has initiated an investigation into the incident and requested a report within 48 hours, according to the Aam Aadmi Party. In response to his actions, Tiwari asserted that MCD had selectively targeted certain houses for demolition. He mentioned having spoken to the MCD deputy commissioner of the zone but expressed dissatisfaction with the explanation provided regarding the specific targeting of those houses.
“If the houses were built in violation of the rules, the entire lane would be illegal. This is the new strategy adopted by AAP-led MCD to create disharmony after the party’s loss in Lok Sabha elections. This is vendetta politics,” stated Tiwari.
