Priyanka questions Modi govt’s claims at Punjab rally

In a fiery address on Sunday, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized the BJP-led central government, questioning the absence of tangible improvements in people’s lives despite claims of rapid economic growth. Speaking at her first poll rally in Punjab in support of Fatehgarh Sahib candidate Amar Singh, Vadra accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of making false promises to secure power.

Vadra highlighted the pressing issue of unemployment, stating that 70 crore youth are jobless, marking the highest unemployment rate in 45 years. She further pointed out that 30 lakh government posts remain vacant under Modi’s administration.

“Prime Minister Modi often boasts about the economy’s rapid growth,” Vadra said. “If this is true, why is there no progress in your lives? Why are your children still unemployed? Why has inflation soared? Why are steel factories closing, and industries weakening under GST?”
She criticized the BJP for neglecting the middle class and failing to address inflation and unemployment, accusing the party of disrespecting the public and ignoring their problems.

Vadra also raised concerns about women’s safety and the escalating drug problem in Punjab, asserting that only the Congress party genuinely addresses public issues.

Accusing Modi of prioritizing power, Vadra claimed he repealed the controversial farm laws solely for electoral gains and accused the BJP of attempting to topple state governments and accepting donations from companies later raided by investigative agencies.

Referring to a case against Barjinder Singh Hamdard of Ajit Group of Newspapers, she implied political motives behind such actions, urging the public to recognize the misleading tactics at both central and state levels.

In Patiala, Vadra addressed an all-women rally, emphasizing the impact of inflation on women’s lives.

She criticized Modi’s derogatory remarks about Congress stealing from citizens, asserting that the party’s foundation lies in the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, truth, and non-violence.

Vadra called for the Prime Minister to maintain the dignity of his office, referencing controversial comments made in Bihar. She concluded by promoting Congress’s poll promises, including the Mahalakshmi scheme and farm debt waiver, as measures to improve public welfare.
