President Murmu, PM Modi Extend Greetings on Milad-un-Nabi, Emphasize Unity and Prophet’s Teachings

President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed their heartfelt wishes to citizens on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, on Monday. The festival, also known as Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi or Mawlid, is celebrated by Muslims across the world to honor the life and teachings of the Prophet.

In a post shared on X, President Murmu highlighted Prophet Muhammad’s teachings of equality, truth, and patience, urging people to embody these principles for the betterment of the nation. “On the auspicious occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.), I extend my best wishes to all my countrymen, especially my Muslim brothers and sisters. Prophet Muhammad has presented the ideal of a human society based on equality. He has also taught to walk on the path of truth with patience,” the President stated. She also encouraged citizens to pledge to follow the Prophet’s teachings and contribute to India’s development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared his greetings on the occasion, emphasizing harmony and unity. “Eid Mubarak! Best wishes on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi. May harmony and togetherness always prevail. Let there be joy and prosperity all around,” he wrote in his message.

The celebrations this year began on the evening of September 15 and will conclude on the evening of September 16, 2024. Milad-un-Nabi, which falls on the 12th day of Rabi’ al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar, is marked with solemn observances. The day is dedicated to reflecting on the life and legacy of the Prophet, with festivities kept to a minimum.

Several political leaders also took to social media to extend their wishes. Union Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju expressed his hopes for joy, love, and unity. “Warm Milad-un-Nabi wishes to all! May this day be filled with joy, love, and a renewed spirit of togetherness,” he said.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also offered his greetings, stating, “Eid Milad-Un-Nabi Mubarak to everyone. May this blessed occasion bring peace, compassion, and prosperity to our lives and foster unity, amity, kindness, and harmony among all.”

The occasion serves as a reminder of Prophet Muhammad’s teachings of forgiveness, humility, and compassion. The Prophet’s life and message are celebrated through prayers, charitable acts, and peaceful observances, with leaders across the country calling for unity and mutual respect among all communities.
