Pregnant Woman Dies After Being Given ‘Wrong’ Injection, Police File Case

Aurai police have registered a case against two individuals posing as doctors under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including culpable homicide, following the death of a Dalit woman allegedly due to a wrong injection administered during her treatment at a private hospital. The incident also led to the death of the woman’s nine-month-old foetus.

According to Aurai police station in-charge Sachidanand Pandey, the accused doctors, Vinay Kumar Pandey and Shiv Bahadur Yadav, are currently on the run. The case was filed based on a complaint by Ankit Kannaujiya, who alleged that his sister-in-law, Anchal (23), died after being admitted for delivery at the hospital on April 23.

Chief Medical Officer Santosh Kumar Chak revealed that investigations conducted by Additional Chief Medical Officer A K Maurya uncovered that the hospital in question was not registered with the health department. Additionally, it was found that the medical degrees of both accused doctors were fake.

The post-mortem report confirmed that woman named Anchal and her foetus died due to an incorrect injection administered to render them unconscious. Efforts are underway to apprehend the accused doctors, who fled the hospital following the incident.
