A one-and-a-half-year-old baby and two women were rescued from a building fire in Delhi’s Rohini district on Thursday, officials said.
The fire broke out on Wednesday. The three members of a family were trapped on the third level of the building when the fire broke out on the first floor, according to police.
“The women-duo and the baby were trapped and crying for help,” the official explained.
Police recognised the two women rescued as Rekha Srivastva (66), her daughter-in-law Nidhi Srivastva (26), and her baby.
At 12:55 p.m., a PCR call was received at the Rohini district police station alerting them of a fire at House No. E-43, Deeper Vihar. The caller also mentioned that someone could be trapped inside the burning structure.
Meanwhile, employees from the mobile petrol vans (MPVs) arrived on the scene after being notified.
“The smoke was billowing out of the building,” they said, adding that the Adarsh Hospital in south Delhi also provided a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.
“An MPVs staff reached out to them and safely rescued them,” they said, adding that two fire tenders and an ambulance arrived later.
