Delhi police detained several Opposition MPs and leaders on Friday while they were marching towards Vijay Chowk in Delhi and repeating their demand for a joint parliamentary committee inquiry into the Adani issue.
The detained MPs were taken to nearby police station in a bus. Earlier, Delhi Police made an announcement asking Opposition MPS to not march ahead as Section 144 CrPC has been imposed in Vijay Chowk area.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that the protest at Vijay Chowk took place to demand a JPC to investigate the Adani issue, and he further said that PM Modi was hiding something from the people. Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi, and Mehul Choks have stolen crore of government’s rupees and ran away form the country and PM Modi is not ready to speak against them.
However, a huge number of police personnel have been deployed outside the Congress headquarters in Delhi as party workers protested against the conviction of Rahul Gandhi, who made alleged remark about Modi’s surname during 2019 Lok Sabha elections rally in Karnataka.
