“PM should tell what he has done for Karnataka in past 10 years”: Congress’ DK Suresh

Congress candidate from the Bangalore Rural seat, DK Suresh, remarked on Saturday that Prime Minister Modi, who is scheduled to hold a rally today, should inform the people about his contributions to Karnataka’s development over the past decade.

Speaking to ANI, Suresh expressed confidence in receiving more support in his constituency compared to the last election. He stated, “I am getting more support compared to the last election. Everybody in my constituency, irrespective of caste and age, is supporting me. The five guarantees of our government have worked for everyone. I have worked diligently for the development of my constituency, addressing both personal and governmental issues. People recognize my efforts. I have also outlined future plans, including assuring good quality and regular supply of Cauvery water wherever needed in my constituency.”

Regarding Prime Minister Modi’s visit, Suresh added, “PM Modi is coming today. He has to tell the people what he has done in the past 10 years for the development of Karnataka. How much money has he allocated? Why is he unable to control price rises?”

Suresh criticized the BJP, stating that they are not fulfilling their promises, while the Congress has delivered on its guarantees in the state. He emphasized that the current election revolves around national issues, with the BJP’s failure to address price rises and unemployment being major concerns. Suresh also highlighted the alleged discrimination against Karnataka by the Central government, stating that despite being the second-largest taxpayers in the country, Karnataka does not receive adequate funds. He expressed concern over Kannadigas facing pressure and having to seek jobs in Gujarat due to the lack of opportunities in their home state.

The Bangalore Rural seat is scheduled for polling in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 26. The BJP has nominated CN Manjunath, the son-in-law of former PM Deve Gowda, to contest against Congress’ DK Suresh. JD(S) and BJP are in alliance from Karnataka for the Lok Sabha polls.

In the 2019 election, Suresh secured 8,78,258 votes and also won the seat in the 2014 elections.
