With Narendra Modi poised to be sworn in as India’s Prime Minister for the third consecutive time on Sunday at 7:15 pm, his followers gathered to offer prayers at a temple in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
They conducted the Aarti and other customary practices at the temple in honour of the Prime Minister-elect. Many held up posters featuring Narendra Modi’s image while reciting hymns.
Meanwhile, this Sunday morning, Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi visited the National War Memorial in the capital city, accompanied by Rajnath Singh, the outgoing Defence Minister.
At the National War Memorial, the Prime Minister-elect, along with CDS Gen Anil Chauhan, Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande, Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi, and VCAS Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh, laid a wreath.
Earlier in the day, Modi paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
Modi is slated to take the oath of office as Prime Minister of the country for the third consecutive term today at 7:15 PM.
He is the sole leader, following former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, to secure a third consecutive term after completing the full tenure of each preceding term. Alongside Narendra Modi, members of his ministerial council will also be sworn in on the same day.
In preparation for the evening ceremony, posters featuring the PM-elect have been displayed across Delhi.
