Prime Minister Narendra Modi again led the world approval rankings of democratic leaders with a 75% approval rating, as per the latest data from US intelligence company Morning Consult. The poll, done from July 4 to 10, 2025, ranks Modi at the first position in the Global Leader Approval Tracker well ahead of many leading world leaders.
Modi’s high rating means that three out of four respondents view him positively. Meanwhile, 18% of those surveyed disapproved of his leadership, and about 7% remained undecided or had no opinion.
South Korea's newly-sworn President Lee Jae Myung took the second place at 59% approval. Although in office for only a month, Lee received notable support, although 29% of those polled disapproved of his leadership and 13% were not sure.
US President Donald Trump, who was back at the White House last year, was placed eighth. With only 44% of the respondents supporting him, Trump failed to find a spot in the top five. Specialists say recent actions like levying trade tariffs and some domestic policies may have been reasons for the downfall in his popularity.
The Morning Consult survey relies on a rolling seven-day average of adult respondents from the countries being tracked. The analytics firm conducts daily interviews with thousands of people to gauge public sentiment toward democratic leaders globally.
Following the release of the survey, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders praised Modi’s leadership and international recognition.
"Loved by more than a billion Indians and admired by millions of people globally, PM Narendra Modi leads the Morning Consult Global Leader Approval Tracker for the third time in a row, the world's most liked and respected leader. Decisive leadership. International admiration. Bharat is in good hands," BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya posted on X.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also posted the survey results, saying, "Once again, Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji tops the Morning Consult Global Leader Approval Tracker, emerging as the world’s most trusted and highest-rated leader. Backed by over a billion Indians. Admired across continents. His strong, decisive leadership ensures Bharat’s rise and the world’s respect."
Notably, Modi’s leadership continues to receive strong global and domestic approval following his re-election for a third term in May 2024.
