PM Modi to Witness Indian Navy’s Spectacular Display on Navy Day at Sindhudurg

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to grace the Navy Day celebrations today at Sindhudurg in Maharashtra, where the Indian Navy is gearing up for a remarkable operational demonstration.

Indian Navy officials announced that PM Narendra Modi will witness an operational demonstration showcasing the prowess of the Indian Navy on Navy Day. The demonstration will involve a dynamic display featuring warships, submarines, aerial assets, maritime surveillance planes, fighter aircraft, and trainer aircraft elements.

Among the assets participating in this grand display are the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya and warships such as INS Kolkata, Kochi, Vishakhapatnam, Chennai, Brahmaputra, Beas, Betwa, Tabar, and Subhadra. The fleet will also include the Kalvari class submarine INS Khanderi and a variety of helicopters like Chetak, ALH Dhruv, MH60 Romeo, Kamov 31, and Seaking 42B. Additionally, maritime surveillance planes like the Dornier and P-8I and fighter/trainer aircraft like Hawks, LCA-Navy, and MiG-29K jets will participate.

The theme of the demonstration, ‘Jalamev Yasya, Balamev Tasya’ (The one who controls the sea is all-powerful), emphasizes the significance of naval dominance.

This operational display aims to showcase the Indian Navy’s capabilities, encompassing various naval operations by ships and aircraft at the iconic Sindhudurg Fort along India’s western seaboard.

The event, hosted by Admiral R. Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff, will witness the presence of senior officials from the Centre and State governments, military dignitaries, and the local populace at Tarkarli Beach. The demonstration also intends to commemorate India’s rich maritime history and highlight the significance of colonial maritime practices.

Constructed in 1660 by Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Sindhudurg Fort stands as a testament to India’s maritime legacy and serves as an ideal location for the Navy to exhibit its frontline assets through this operational demonstration.

Navy Day, observed on December 4, commemorates the historic “Operation Trident,” a bold naval attack on Karachi harbor during the 1971 War, marking a significant milestone in India’s naval history.
