PM Modi announced India-made EVs will soon operate in over 100 countries, highlighting Suzuki’s role, global trust in India, and the launch of the Critical Minerals Mission.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that electronic vehicles manufactured in India will soon be exported to over 100 countries on Tuesday.
“Now, the EVs that will run in dozens of countries around the world will have written on them – Made in India,” PM Modi said.
The statement comes after PM Modi flagged off the eVitara from the Suzuki Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. He complimented Suzuki Japan for their Indian manufacturing of the vehicle, asserting that the export of their vehicles reflects global trust in the country.
He added, “Japan's manufacturing of Suzuki EVs in India is not only representative of the strong ties the two countries share, but also reflects the global confidence in India.”
PM Modi also highlighted the challenge of the global shortage of rare earth minerals, which are essential for EV production. He spoke about the government's 'Critical Minerals Mission', a new initiative to tackle this problem.
“We are aware of the rare earths shortage, which is why the government has launched the Critical Minerals Mission. This mission will be carried out in more than 1,200 locations across India," he said.
With the unveiling of eVitara and PM Modi's announcement, India has showcased its stance as a major player in the global EV market.
