PM Modi: “Congress Doesn’t Want Indians to Pass On Their Properties to Their Children”

In the midst of a heated political debate about Congress’s pledge for “wealth redistribution,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized remarks made by Congress’ Sam Pitroda advocating for an ‘inheritance tax,’ suggesting that Congress opposes passing down property to children.

Modi, addressing an election rally in Surguja, accused Congress of wanting to impose higher taxes on the middle class and introduce an Inheritance Tax, thereby preventing individuals from passing on their hard-earned property to their offspring. He characterized Congress’s approach as “Loot zindagi ke sath bhi zindagi ke baad bhi” (Loot, during life and even after).

Pitroda later downplayed his comments, clarifying that he only mentioned the US inheritance tax as an example, not proposing it for India. The Congress distanced itself from Pitroda’s remarks, stating they don’t always reflect the party’s views.

Modi also criticized Congress’s manifesto for allegedly planning religious-based reservations, citing historical instances of similar attempts. He accused Congress of disregarding the Constitution and Ambedkar’s principles for vote bank politics.

Modi further claimed that Congress’ governance led to the country’s decline, contrasting it with BJP’s firm stance against terrorism and Naxalism. He mocked Sonia Gandhi for her emotional reaction to the 2008 Batla House encounter, suggesting it reflects Congress’s misplaced sympathies.
