On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the Centre is enacting reforms to remove barriers facing India’s youth. Speaking at the grand finale of the ‘Smart India Hackathon (SIH)’, Modi highlighted that the youth of today are taking responsibility for addressing the challenges faced by the country.
“India’s strength lies in its innovative youth and technological capabilities. We have launched a new National Education Policy to cultivate a scientific mindset. The government is clearing obstacles in the way of the country’s youth through the implementation of reforms,” PTI cited the Prime Minister.
“The world’s future will be shaped by innovation and knowledge, and today’s youth in India are cultivating a sense of ownership in solving the nation’s issues,” Modi added.
The seventh iteration of the SIH commenced on Wednesday at 51 nodal centres throughout India. The Software Edition will last for 36 uninterrupted hours, while the Hardware Edition is scheduled from December 11 to 15.

As in prior years, student teams will tackle problem statements issued by ministries, departments, or industries, or suggest ideas under the Student Innovation category, encompassing 17 sectors of national significance, including healthcare, supply chain and logistics, smart technologies, heritage and culture, sustainability, education and skill development, water, agriculture and food, emerging technologies, and disaster management.
While engaging with the students, PM Modi remarked, “It was wonderful to converse with all of you and witness the diverse group that embodies the vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’. Students hailing from North, South, East, and West are experiencing the vastness and richness of our nation. ”
“The future will be propelled by knowledge and innovation, and you represent India’s hope. Your distinct viewpoints, thought processes, and vigor are aimed at transforming India into the most inventive, progressive, and prosperous country. Today, the world acknowledges India’s strength in its youthful energy, which is clearly reflected in all of you through the Smart India Hackathon,” he noted.
