PM GatiShakti Celebrates Two-Year Journey, Holds 61st Network Planning Group Meeting

The 61st Network Planning Group (NPG) meeting, hosted by Smt. Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary (Logistics) of DPIIT, took center stage in New Delhi, commemorating the second anniversary of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP).

This historic gathering orchestrated a thorough assessment of the National Master Plan’s progress, highlighting accomplishments and reviewing vital economic zones and a hundred critical infrastructure projects. Over 60 officials from various ministries and departments, including road transportation, railways, ports, power, telecommunications, and others, gathered to demonstrate a unified approach to infrastructure planning.

Special Secretary Dawra highlighted significant milestones of PM GatiShakti, including the integration of 39 line ministries, 36 state and UT engagements, and the upload of 1463 data layers, coupled with the inception of pivotal tools and use cases.

The meeting witnessed the launch of the ‘Compendium of PM GatiShakti,’ outlining eight exemplary use cases on October 13, 2023.

Notably, the National Master Plan played a pivotal role in identifying and prioritizing critical infrastructure projects for FY 2023–24. A staggering allocation of Rs. 75,000 crore from the Union budget focused on enhancing last- and first-mile connectivity for key sectors, aiming for inclusive growth.

PM GatiShakti has visualized over 1300 infrastructure projects across ministries and departments, ensuring holistic infrastructure planning for comprehensive growth. Mapping economic zones such as PM MITRA Parks and SEZs emerged as a crucial aspect of this strategic initiative.

The meeting showcased remarkable achievements, including the mapping of PM Mitra Parks by the Ministry of Textiles, Pharma clusters by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, and training institutes across India by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.

The Ministries of Railways, Road Transport, and Highways emphasized details on commissioned and ongoing critical infrastructure projects, affirming the significant stride towards enhancing connectivity.

Special Secretary Dawra stressed the need for leveraging PM GatiShakti to bridge connectivity gaps, aiming to boost economic nodes, attract investments, and foster seamless movement for bolstered productivity.
