A video of a blaze in Jalandhar went viral on social media with many attributing it to a Pakistani drone strike on Punjab. The video, demonstrating flames in the vicinity of CT College in Jalandhar, was widely shared following a drone attack on the area. The local authorities, however, have made it clear that the video does not relate to the drone attack.

Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal clarified the misunderstanding in an official statement, stating that the video was of a farm fire, not a crash of a drone. He explained that the video, dated 7:39 PM, was recorded prior to the drone sighting around 9 PM, discrediting any link to the attack. The video is suspected to have come from a neighboring farm fire.
Aggarwal appealed to the people not to create panic by circulating false news, assuring that though drones were spotted in the region, the situation was under command with the Indian Army rendering them harmless. The clarification is made at a time when false information keeps circulating on social media, fuelling increased tensions in the current border skirmishes.
The government is trying to stop the spread of false reporting and ensure people’s security against increased tensions.
