In an unusual display of cross-party harmony on national security issues, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has come out openly in support of India’s nighttime military offensive, “Operation Sindoor,” against Jaish-e-Mohammad, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

India’s armed forces destroyed nine terror camps associated with these groups, responding to the April 22 terror attack at Pahalgam. The attack killed 25 tourists and one local guide.

Powerful Message  of Owaisi Against Terrorism

Owaisi posted on Twitter in Urdu and Hindi. He supported the surgical strikes and stressed to uproot Pakistan’s deeply embedded terror network. “I welcome the surgical strikes carried out by our defence forces on terror camps in Pakistan. The Pakistani deep state must be taught a tough lesson so that another Pahalgam never happens again. Pakistan’s terror infrastructure must be completely destroyed. Jai Hind,” he tweeted.

By praising the Indian military, Owaisi emphasized national security above politics. His message follows closely on the heels of the Indian government stating that the strikes were “focused, measured and non-escalatory,” and that no Pakistani military facilities were attacked.

A Consistent Stand Against Extremism

After the Pahalgam attack, where terrorists allegedly separated men from women and children and then killed them on religious grounds, Owaisi criticized the brutality. “The way people were killed by separating kids and women, and asking males about their religion, was disheartening and inhumane. Those who couldn’t recite the Kalma were fired upon. This is barbaric,” he had said, terming the incident a massacre carried out by Pakistani-supported terrorists.

He went on to vituperate against Pakistan’s leadership, calling them a “failed nation.” He mock Pakistani generals for their ignorance of authentic Islamic values. As more and more reports have emerged of Pakistan evacuating its launchpads in PoK, Owaisi had asked Indian forces to attack fiercely, “If they are taking any action this time, toh ghar mein ghus ke baith jana, khatam (enter the house and stay, that’s it).”

As tensions soar between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, Owaisi’s unequivocal support for the Indian military’s actions signals a growing consensus on stamping out terrorism at its source.
