Pakistan Connection Detected in Ahmedabad School Bomb Threat

The Crime Branch has revealed a connection to Pakistan in the recent Ahmedabad school bomb threats targeting 38 schools across Ahmedabad on May 6, officials reported on Friday.

According to authorities, the threats were orchestrated from Pakistan, utilizing a Russian server to instill panic and fear in the city. The threatening emails were sent from a Russian domain (.ru), adding to the severity of the situation. Further details are anticipated as the investigation progresses.

The scare came just a day ahead of the May 7 Lok Sabha polls, causing widespread alarm among the public. Prompt action was taken by the Crime Branch, Cyber Crime unit, Special Operations Group, and Ahmedabad Police to investigate the threats.

Despite the intense threats, thorough inspections by bomb disposal squads and canine units yielded no evidence of suspicious or explosive materials. Director General of Police Vikas Sahay assured the public that the threats were a hoax and urged voters to proceed with their electoral duties without fear.

This incident mirrors a recent trend of hoax threats seen in the Delhi-NCR region, where over 130 schools received similar intimidating emails on May 1. Investigations revealed that the emails also originated from a Russian domain, with the address sawariim@mail.ru indicating a Russian origin, although the perpetrators may have used a masked IP address.

The discovery of these international links underscores the need for heightened vigilance and swift investigative action in response to such threats, ensuring public safety and security across regions.
