In the wake of the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, that claimed the lives of at least 28 people, including tourists, airlines have taken swift action to assist affected passengers. Extra flights, along with waivers on rescheduling and cancellation fees, have been introduced by Air India, IndiGo, and Air India Express.
Special Flights for Affected Passengers
In response to the attack, Air India has announced that it will operate two additional flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai on Wednesday, April 23. The special flights aim to help stranded passengers and those affected by the situation.
“In view of the prevailing situation, Air India will operate two additional flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai on Wednesday, April 23,” Air India stated in a post on X.
IndiGo, another leading airline, also stepped in to support affected travelers. An official from the airline confirmed that two extra flights would be added to their schedule, from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai.
Free Rescheduling and Refunds
Both Air India and its budget arm, Air India Express, are offering free rescheduling and full refunds on flights to and from Srinagar until April 30, 2025. This move is part of the airline’s effort to accommodate passengers impacted by the attack.
Air India further confirmed that its regular flights to and from Srinagar would continue as scheduled. “All our other flights to and from Srinagar will run as scheduled,” the airline confirmed.
IndiGo also announced that it would waive cancellation and rescheduling charges for passengers traveling to or from Srinagar during this difficult period. The airline has added two extra flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Srinagar in addition to its regular services.
Maharashtra Government’s Action
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has been actively involved in supporting the victims’ families. Shinde spoke with Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu about the incident, highlighting the urgent need for transportation arrangements to bring the bodies of the victims to Mumbai.
Shinde requested that special transport be arranged to bring the victims back to Mumbai as soon as possible, underlining the importance of swift action in this tragic situation.
Continued Support for Passengers
Air India Express has also pledged its full support to passengers affected by the attack. The airline reiterated that passengers with confirmed bookings on flights to or from Srinagar until April 30, 2025, could reschedule their tickets without incurring extra charges or fare differences.
